Tony is a partner in the Firm’s Raleigh and Los Angeles offices. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, including intellectual property and employment disputes, before state and federal courts and before arbitration panels nationwide, as well as matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Before joining CYLG, Tony was a partner in the Los Angeles and Century City offices of Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton, and then at Wyrick Robbins Yates and Ponton’s Raleigh office. Tony’s trial practice includes handling complex matters for major motion picture studios, mortgage lenders and financial institutions, media and broadcasting companies, professional sports leagues and teams, and other businesses regarding various commercial disputes, including those involving intellectual property rights, employment and contractual disputes, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), motion picture and television distribution rights, copyright and idea submission, and class actions. Tony received his B.B.A., Finance, Emphasis in Accounting, from the University of Iowa, where he also competed as a quarterback for the University of Iowa Football Team. He received his J.D. from Baylor University School of Law, where he was Assistant Lead Editor of the Baylor Law Review. Tony was recognized by Benchmark Litigation as a “Future Star” (2009), and by The Legal 500 (2009 edition) for “getting great results.” In 2006 and 2009, Tony was recognized by Los Angeles Magazine as a Southern California “Super Lawyer.” He has served as a Board Member for the North Carolina Bar Association, Sports & Entertainment Section, and he is an active member and frequent speaker with a variety of local and national bar and legal associations, including the Sports Lawyers Association, the Beverly Hills Bar Association, and the Wake County Bar Association. Tony is licensed to practice in North Carolina, California and Texas, and he frequently represents the Firm’s Colorado and North Carolinas clients in connection with disputes arising in California.
